Interesting Information

For 40 years the post office was operational in Duguesne, from 1880 to 1920.

Duquesne had 1,000 residents at its peak.

Duquesne is about 17 miles south of Patagonia and 18 miles east of Nogales.

The Duguesne Mining and Reduction Company of Pittsburgh established the town around 1890.

George Westinghouse, of the Westinghouse Electric Company, once resided in Duquesne. He built his house complete with hot and cold running water.

The town is presently occupied year round by several people who moved to Duquesne and have constructed beautiful homes. In 2009 a couple bought and expertly renovated two of the old buildings in downtown Duquesne where they plan to retire.
